New Semester and Dragon Ballz

Just started 3rd semester here at AUC, I am really loving it. We are learning pathology, physiology 2, and medical microbiology which is really interesting. There is a ton of pathogens to learn and memorize, I am doing some research with some classmates which should help in the class. We have to go around the Island, collect water samples, and culture to see what bacteria grow. So far we found out that a nice looking beach resort has some fecal bacteria in the water, probably having to do with dumping sewage on the far side of the beach

I tried doing some studying on my nintendo DS using a cool flash card app called NDSRS. It is really simple to use, you just export a spreadsheet with your questions/answers to a delimited .txt format and load it on there. You tap on the screen for the answer and can rate how well you knew the answer, and it gives you stats for each card.

Also I finally finished beating the new Dragon Ball Z RPG for the DS: Attack of the Saiyans. I started it over break and got hooked fast. It was a pretty quality game, almost on par with Final Fantasy type games, excellent graphics, and it followed the story line very closely, I felt like I was playing through the show. It follows the story of the beginning of Z up to the fight with Vegeta. That brought back some good memories from highschool, watching DBZ after school at a friends house. It recieved some high scores in reviews, it has an average of 8.5, I think this is due to the fact that it was developed by the same team that made Xenosaga, which is another quality RPG series from what I've read. Hopefully the sequel will come out soon.

Medical school is amazing so far, it keeps getting more and more interesting every day. Of course there is a ton of work, a friend described it as eating 5 pancakes each day. If you miss one day, you have to eat 10 the next day! It is pretty darn intense. I have my 3rd block exams on Monday, my birthday, but I will study HARD and do the best I can. And then go out!

I recently inked my Trekbbs comic project contribution:

I look forward to coloring it some time soon. I really screwed up on the perspective shot, but next time I will try to use 3D. I found John Byrne's forum (he is a famous comic book artist who drew X-men, and currently draws Star Trek comics for IDW publishing) and he has a thread where he describes how he uses a 3d model of the bridge to help make accurate looking shots. I plan on doing the same. Fortunately, there is a site that already has these 3d models built: http://www.trekmeshes.ch/

Really happy and excited to leave on May 2nd to start my journey of becoming a doctor. I know that the next four years will be really intense, studying 12 hours a day but it is exactly what I want. This blog will probably be neglected but I hope to give it some attention whenever I have some down time. I'll probably add a medicine section or something... who knows!

I was sure to order these ahead of time because shipping can take time, anywhere from a week or 2 weeks.

http://www.half.ebay.com/textbooks - very cheap and good

http://isbn.nu/ - you just put in the ISBN number on the textbook and it shows you many sites and compares the prices for you, very good too

http://www.textbooksrus.com/ - this is the site that I got my textbooks usually (for science classes), I would get the International editions. International editions are the textbooks the book companies sell in other countries for cheaper. In other countries, people don't pay high prices for books like they do here in America. It is illegal for American book stores to sell these, so you have to get them online.

Ok, good luck and let me know how much money you save!!!
